Momordica charantia, commonly known as bitter melon, karela, or kāravella, has been used for centuries in traditional systems like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This unique vine, part of the cucumber family, produces knobby, bitter fruits that have earned a place in kitchens and wellness traditions across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The name “Momordica” means “to bite” in Latin—aptly describing its jagged leaves. Unlike many single-action supplements, bitter melon helps support metabolism and normal blood sugar levels through layered, natural mechanisms.
Bitter melon is like that brutally honest friend—sharp on the outside, but always looking out for you. They don’t sugarcoat anything (literally), but you can count on them to help you.
Can be added to meals, herbal teas, or taken as a supplement.
